International Guests Are Always Welcome
Absolutely.
We warmly welcome guests from all over the world to Masumasu Masuda.
Whether this is your first trip to Japan or your first time experiencing kaiseki cuisine, we hope you will feel comfortable and enjoy an authentic Japanese dining experience in Kyoto.
We Will Do Our Best to Communicate in English
While we are not fluent English speakers, we truly enjoy meeting guests from around the world.
We will do our very best to explain each dish, introduce Japanese food culture, and share the stories behind the ingredients and seasonal traditions.
We believe that hospitality is not only about language, but also about sincerity and the desire to create a memorable experience.
English Menu Book Available
If there is something we cannot fully explain in English, there’s no need to worry.
We provide a detailed English menu book that introduces every course, including the ingredients, cooking methods, and the cultural background behind each dish.
Many international guests tell us that these explanations help them understand and appreciate Japanese cuisine on a deeper level.
Experience More Than Just a Meal
Dining at Masumasu Masuda is more than simply enjoying delicious food.
Our hostess is a former Kyoto geiko (traditional Kyoto geisha) and is happy to share stories about Kyoto’s traditions, culture, and her experiences whenever the opportunity arises.
Combined with the chef’s explanations of seasonal ingredients and Japanese culinary traditions, we hope your meal becomes one of the most memorable parts of your visit to Kyoto.
A Michelin-Selected Kaiseki Experience for International Travelers
Masumasu Masuda is a Michelin Selected restaurant where guests can experience seasonal Japanese cuisine in a traditional Kyoto machiya townhouse.
Our monthly changing omakase course features seasonal ingredients from Kyoto together with specialties from Tochigi Prefecture, the hometown of our chef.
With English explanations, an English menu book, and heartfelt hospitality, we strive to make Japanese cuisine enjoyable and accessible for guests from around the world.
We look forward to welcoming you to Kyoto and sharing an unforgettable kaiseki experience with you.
